SwimKit
Swimming Safety Gear
Designed in New York City

SwimKit is a swimming safety buoy designed to help recreational and professional swimmers stay safer in outdoor environments. As outdoor swimming becomes increasingly popular for physical and mental wellbeing, as well as social recreation, the number of related accidents is also rising. Two key risks are collisions in the water and exposure to contaminated water. SwimKit rethinks the traditional swimming buoy by providing.

Strap Design

Visualizing Pain Thresholds
When swimming, comfort is essential. SwimKit is equipped with a padded strap that is easy to attach around the body and can also be used to carry the buoy out of the water. The strap combines a water-resistant, PU-coated polyester outer layer with integrated closed-cell EVA padding for added comfort. Its wide, flexible construction distributes pressure across the body while allowing unrestricted movement during swimming.

Night-time Illumination

Visualizing Pain Thresholds
Traditional swimming buoys offer good visibility in daylight, but become much harder to see in darker conditions. SwimKit improves slow-light visibility with a collapsible LED beacon and integrated LED strip, making swimmers easier to spot from multiple angles. This helps nearby boats identify swimmers more quickly and reduces the risk of collisions when swimming in
low-light environments.

Integrated Water Testing

Swimming in contaminated water can pose serious health risks. Bacteria such as E. coli and harmful blue-green algae can cause illness, while prolonged exposure to cold water can lead to hypothermia. SwimKit integrates a simplified testing system that allows swimmers to check water quality and temperature without relying on separate testing equipment.

Smart Test-Stick
Traditional water-testing equipment often does not account for the wide range of environments in which outdoor swimming takes place, from beaches and canals to boats and docks. In many of these situations, the water is difficult to reach directly. SwimKit includes an extendable Test Stick that allows swimmers to collect
a water sample while simultaneously measuring the water temperature.

Digital Display

A small integrated display shows the water temperature, warning the swimmer when conditions may pose a risk of hypothermia. This allows the swimmer to assess conditions before entering the water and monitor temperature changes during use.
